Lok Sabha Election Prediction For Telangana: Will Guarantees Help Congress To Win More Seats?

The implementation of poll promises or guarantees by Congress is expected to help the party virtually sweep the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, Lokpoll survey said.

As per the opinion poll, implementation of guarantees, particularly among women, has seen significant success with initiatives such as free bus rides, 200 units of free electricity, a Rs 500 gas cylinder, and Indiramma houses.

The Congress is predicted to win 13-15 seats, while the BJP is expected to bag just 2-3. The BRS is likely to win 0-1 seat with the AIMIM predicted to get just 1 seat.

It noted that Rahul Gandhi enjoys immense popularity in rural Telangana.

The findings from the opinion poll claim that the Congress is experiencing substantial growth in the Malajgiri, Medak, and Chevella parliamentary constituencies, particularly in the Hyderabad region.

Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Reddys, and Muslims are voting in favour of Congress. There is widespread anti-incumbency sentiment against the incumbent MPs of the BJP, the survey claims.

The BRS has become insignificant in the state and is unlikely to secure any seats. Former Chief Minister KCR's influence is waning, and his son KTR is not being taken seriously, the opinion poll adds.

The BRS's vote share is decreasing, with many supporters shifting allegiance to the INC due to its welfare schemes. The announcement of a caste census by the state government is being well-received among Backward Classes (BCs).

In 2019, the TRS had bagged 9 seats, the BJP had won 4 while the Congress and the AIMIM had won 3 and 1 seats, respectively. It is noted that in the 2023 assembly polls, the Congress emerged victorious in 64 seats in the 119-member assembly and its ally the CPI bagged one seat. The BRS won 39 seats while the BJP ended in third place by winning just 8 seats.
