Liquor Ban In Hyderabad: City Gears Up For Dry Days On September 17-18 During Ganesh Visarjan

Hyderabad City Police have announced a temporary ban on alcohol sales in the city to ensure public safety during the final stages of Ganesh idol immersions. The restriction, ordered by Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, will be in effect from 6 a.m. on September 17 until 6 p.m. on September 18.

The ban covers all wine shops, toddy shops, and bars in both Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The decision is in accordance with Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968. However, bars located in hotels and registered clubs are exempt from this prohibition.

Local law enforcement, including Station House Officers (SHOs) and Additional Inspectors, have been instructed to enforce this order strictly and take legal action against those who violate it.

This move is part of the city's efforts to maintain order and ensure a peaceful environment during Ganesh Visarjan.
