KCR Urges Centre To Halt 'Operation Kagar', Alleges Killings Of Tribals And Youth

During a public meeting in the Hanumakonda area of Telangana, BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, also referred to as KCR, expressed grave worries over the current anti-Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh. The central government was accused by KCR of indiscriminately killing tribal people and young people under "Operation Kagar" during the meeting, which was held to commemorate the Bharat Rashtra Samithi's (BRS) silver jubilee. He called the operation an unjust conduct and urged the Centre to stop it immediately.

KCR emphasized that he supported having discussions with the Maoists and stated his belief in a peaceful solution to the Maoist problem. He emphasized that innocent lives were being lost in the name of "Operation Kagar," especially those of young people and tribal members. According to KCR, "it is not fair to keep killing people," and the Central government should put an end to the operation. He also argued in favour of a democratic strategy that gives the Maoists room to discuss instead of using force.

The call to stop the operation came at the same time as a group of activists and intellectuals publicly pleaded with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to step in. This group, which included former judge Justice Chandra Kumar, retired professor Haragopal, and others, filed a memorandum asking the Centre to declare a truce and hold peace negotiations with the CPI (Maoists).

Around 10,000 people are involved in the continuing anti-Maoist operations along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, and they have gotten more intense in the meantime. The Maoists have demanded peace negotiations and an end to the operations in a number of announcements over the last few days. In reaction to these events, KCR also attacked the Telangana Congress government, saying it was neglecting important matters like electricity, drinking water supply, and farmer issues.

Security personnel are still conducting operations around the region, thus the situation is still changing.
