Hyderabad Weather Update: City Records Cool Nights Despite 30°C Daytime Highs

Hyderabad is passing through a short spell of comfortable weather as winter gradually retreats and early summer signals begin to appear. While daytime temperatures are inching closer to the 30 degrees Celsius mark, nights continue to remain pleasantly cool, offering residents a brief transition phase that is neither too warm nor too cold.

Low-level easterlies keep temperatures in check

Weather officials attribute the mild conditions to low-level easterlies, winds that move from east to west and help retain moisture in the atmosphere. These winds are preventing a sudden rise in heat despite the seasonal shift. According to data from IMD-Hyderabad, Hyderabad is currently experiencing a stable transition period with balanced temperature patterns.

Daytime temperatures have started touching around 30 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures are staying near 19 degrees Celsius. This contrast is allowing the city to enjoy a relatively pleasant climate even as summer approaches.

IMD outlook points to normal February minimums

The India Meteorological Department, New Delhi has categorised the South Peninsular region as likely to experience normal minimum temperatures through February. This assessment suggests that extreme cold conditions are unlikely, even though cooler nights may persist for some more time.

Such conditions are typical of a seasonal transition, where winter gradually fades without an abrupt rise in daytime heat.

Cooler nights persist across city outskirts

Data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society shows that minimum temperatures in Hyderabad's outskirts and surrounding districts are ranging between 12 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius. Within the GHMC limits, temperatures are slightly higher but still within a comfortable range.

These readings highlight the variation between urban and semi-urban areas, with peripheral regions continuing to feel the remnants of winter more strongly.

Warmer days likely by mid-February

Private weather forecasters believe the cooler influence may not last much longer. R Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman on X, has indicated that cold winds are expected to continue till February. He said, "The sun will likely get harsher toward the end of the month. By mid-February, however, the influence of an evolving ENSO-neutral phase will likely trigger a rise in daytime temperatures above 32 degree Celsius, effectively ending the 2025-26 winter season".

As February progresses, residents can expect warmer afternoons to gradually replace the current mild conditions, marking a clear shift into the summer phase.
