Hyderabad University Students Stage Indefinite Protest, Announce To Boycott Classes

The Students Union at the University of Hyderabad, have called for a halt to classes and to begin an unending protest starting April 1, at the university's administration building. Various student associations collectively took a firm stance against the university, accusing the administration of deceiving students by allowing land clearance activities for the State government near Kancha Gachibowli, which led to a harsh police response against demonstrators.

The collective student body has issued several demands, key among them the immediate withdrawal of police forces and JCB machinery currently stationed on campus grounds. Furthermore, they seek a formal commitment from the university's side, assuring that steps will be taken to register the disputed land under the university's name. Additionally, they are pressing for the public release of the Executive Committee's meeting minutes concerning this issue, alongside a demand for transparency regarding the land-related documents.

Hyderabad University Students Protest

As part of their protest, students were seen preparing placards on the University of Hyderabad campus, signaling their readiness to escalate their demonstrations. This visual of determination was juxtaposed against the backdrop of police personnel, who were closely monitoring the unfolding events. This situation underscores the escalating tension between the student body and the university administration over the contentious land clearing activities.

To convey their grievances and demands, the Student Union's statement highlighted their feeling of betrayal by the university. This betrayal, according to the students, stems from the administration's facilitation of land clearance for state government projects without considering the students' welfare or the university's long-term interests. This act, they claim, has not only disrupted the academic environment but has also threatened the integrity of the university's land.
