Hyderabad Powercut Update: TGNPDCL Peak Power Demand Hits Record On Monday, Affected Areas Listed

The Telangana Northern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TGNPDCL) registered its highest-ever peak power demand on Monday, March 2, touching 6,273 mega watts. The new figure narrowly crossed the previous day's record of 6,267 mega watts set on Sunday, March 1, signalling a sharp rise in electricity consumption across northern Telangana.

Surge in Demand Amid Rising Summer Heat

TGNPDCL Chairperson and Managing Director Karnati Varun Reddy attributed the spike to intensifying summer conditions. As temperatures climb, households and commercial establishments have increased their use of cooling appliances, pushing overall consumption to new highs.

He said the increase in electricity demand is primarily due to the increasing intensity of the summer heat. Despite the surge, he assured consumers that supply remains stable.

Assurance of Uninterrupted Supply

Reddy emphasised that the utility has been able to meet the growing load without disruption. He assured the public that despite the rising demand, the company is providing a continuous, uninterrupted power supply without any inconvenience to consumers.

The corporation has maintained system stability even as demand edges higher with each passing day, reflecting careful load management and infrastructure readiness.

Preparations in Place for Peak Season

Looking ahead to the hotter months, the CMD noted that the organisation had anticipated a seasonal jump in consumption. Anticipating the rise demand of power supply during the summer season, Reddy said that that the organization is fully prepared.

He explained that proactive measures and strategic planning have been implemented to prevent any technical glitches and ensure a smooth supply of power across all sectors.

With demand already setting fresh records at the start of March, TGNPDCL's preparedness will be tested further as summer advances, but officials remain confident of meeting the challenge.
