Hyderabad MMTS Services Hit As SCR Cancels 11 Trains On May 11 And 12

Thousands of commuters in Hyderabad are likely to face travel inconvenience after the South Central Railway (SCR) announced the cancellation and partial cancellation of several MMTS train services on May 11 and 12 due to operational reasons. The disruptions are expected to affect passengers travelling across major suburban corridors, including Lingampalli, Falaknuma, Secunderabad and Umdanagar.

In an official press release, SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar confirmed that a total of 11 MMTS services have either been fully cancelled or partially curtailed over the two-day period.

Four MMTS Services Fully Cancelled

According to SCR, four MMTS trains will remain completely cancelled during the disruption period. The affected services include Train No. 47164 operating between Umdanagar and Lingampalli, Train No. 47191 running from Lingampalli to Falaknuma, Train No. 47170 connecting Falaknuma and Lingampalli, and Train No. 47250 operating between Falaknuma and Umdanagar.

The cancellations are expected to impact regular office commuters and students who rely heavily on the MMTS network for daily travel across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Partial Cancellations Announced On Key Sections

Apart from the fully cancelled trains, SCR has also partially cancelled seven additional MMTS services on important suburban sections.

Train No. 47210 running from Lingampalli to Umdanagar will not operate between Secunderabad and Umdanagar. Similarly, Train No. 47203 travelling from Umdanagar to Lingampalli stands cancelled between Umdanagar and Secunderabad.

Three services on the Lingampalli-Falaknuma route, including Train Nos. 47179, 47190 and 47187, will remain partially cancelled between Secunderabad and Falaknuma.

In addition, Train Nos. 47157 and 47166 operating between Falaknuma and Lingampalli will not run between Falaknuma and Secunderabad.

Around 60,000 Daily Passengers Likely To Be Affected

The Hyderabad MMTS rail network stretches across nearly 90 kilometres and serves key locations including Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampalli, Falaknuma, Medchal and Umdanagar. The suburban railway system currently handles nearly 60,000 passengers every day.

With disruptions affecting some of the busiest sections, many regular passengers may need to depend on alternative transport services during the affected days. Increased rush is also expected on city buses and other public transport systems.

Passengers Advised To Check Schedules Before Travel

Railway authorities have urged commuters travelling on May 11 and 12 to verify train schedules before leaving for stations. Passengers have also been advised to plan alternate travel arrangements to avoid delays and inconvenience during peak hours.

SCR stated that the temporary cancellations have been implemented for operational reasons, though detailed information regarding the cause of the disruption has not been disclosed.
