Hyderabad: EC on its toes after Rs 190 cr cash withdrawn from ATMs

Hyderabad, April 19: The Election Commission is on its toes after it received information that Rs 190 crore has been withdrawn through ATMs in the city in the last 30 days in Medak district.

Officials are suspicious that the cash withdrawn is related to the on- going Lok Sabha election and is being transported in milk vans and ambulances.

A strict vigil is in place on the routes where officials suspect that the cash is being transferred.

The money officials say that the cash is being used in poll betting. Around 3000 cases of poll betting have been registered in Hyderabad, Vizag, Vijaywada and other cities.

Officials say that the betting is o the candidate's reputation and poll percentage. Officials say that the betting is conducted by liquor chains and real estate agents.
