Hyderabad: 4 Women, 1 Child Among 9 Killed In Fire Accident In Nampally; Over 20 Evacuated

At least nine people including four women and a child have been killed in a fire accident at a multi-storeyed building in Hyderabad on Monday. The incident occurred at a chemical warehouse in Bazarghat in Nampally.

As per the reports in the local media, three people have been injured while the daring rescue operations are underway. Over 20 people have been rescued, so far.

Hyderabad: 6 Killed In Fire Accident

Telangana CM KCR Rao has offered condolences on the deaths in the Nampally fire incident and ordered the concerned officials to take all relief measures immediately.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy visited the accident spot and blamed the Telangana government for not taking action against people involved in such cases. "Telangana government is not taking action in such cases. I have repeatedly asked the state government to shift such warehouses out of the city. I will speak to the PM to get financial assistance for the families of the deceased in this incident," Reddy told reporters.

The building owner identified as Ramesh Jaiswal is currently on the run as he was using the ground floor as a godown for oil drums and cans.

What Caused The Fire Mishap?
Officials said the fire ignited at approximately 9:30 am while a mechanic was conducting car repairs in the building's cellar.

The building, which has five floors, housed both a mechanical shop and a chemical godown on the ground floor.

A spark during the repair process triggered the ignition of diesel stored in a container. The fire rapidly expanded, and additional chemical drums stored in the cellar also caught fire, generating thick smoke and leading to a significant blaze.

The fire department personnel with the help of ladders rescued people from the upper floors.

Also, visuals of officials rescuing a woman and child have gone viral. The fire officials pressed in half a dozen fire tenders to the spot.

Meanwhile, the fire has been under control as residents from the above floors are being evacuated through windows.

In a similar incident, a massive accident was reported in a godown, containing slippers, at a building at Mir Chowk police station limits of Old City on Sunday.
