Human Remains Discovered in Telangana’s SLBC Tunnel Amid Ongoing Rescue Operation

Rescue teams have discovered traces of human remains in the partially collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, intensifying efforts to retrieve those trapped inside. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with other agencies, made progress in the search after cadaver dogs and seismology studies pinpointed two key locations within the tunnel.

During the ongoing excavation, teams unearthed what appears to be highly mutilated remains, believed to belong to one of the missing workers. This grim discovery has forced authorities to slow down manual excavation to ensure careful retrieval. Meanwhile, work continues at the second identified location, where further findings are anticipated within hours.

The rescue operation has been extremely challenging due to the hazardous conditions inside the tunnel, including heavy debris, accumulated muck, and water. Despite these difficulties, teams remain determined, using advanced technology such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to detect human presence.

State Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar has been actively monitoring the operation. Authorities have also planned to deploy robots from March 11 to assist in removing debris and improving the safety of the rescue personnel.

As the rescue efforts reach a crucial stage, all focus is now on the identified spots. The teams are proceeding with extreme caution, knowing that each moment is critical. The discovery of remains has heightened urgency, but the teams are committed to continuing their meticulous search and recovery efforts until the mission is completed.
