Father Dragged 2 KM On Bonnet In Hyderabad Road Rage After Son Assaulted by Car Driver

A late-night road rage incident in Telangana's Meerpet has triggered outrage after a middle-aged man was dragged on the bonnet of a moving car for nearly 2 kilometres while trying to protect his son. The shocking episode, which occurred on May 1, came to light after a video of the incident surfaced online, prompting police action.

Argument on road spirals into violence

According to police and a PTI report, the man was travelling with his son, who was riding a two-wheeler, when a car moving in the same direction got into a dispute with them. The confrontation reportedly began after the bike rider indicated a u-turn well in advance, a move that led to an argument with the car driver.

What initially started as a verbal exchange quickly escalated. Police said the car driver allegedly grabbed the bike rider by his hair and began driving forward, turning the situation dangerous within moments.

Father risks life to save injured son

As tensions rose, the father stepped in to protect his son. In a desperate attempt to stop the vehicle, he climbed onto the bonnet of the car. Instead of halting, the driver continued driving with the man clinging to the bonnet for nearly 2 kilometres, police said.

The man later told mediapersons that the car had first hit their two-wheeler from behind while they were travelling from Meerpet to LB Nagar. He alleged that after the collision, the driver held his son by the hair and kept driving, causing the boy to fall and suffer injuries.

'Driver kept going till Balapur'

Recounting the ordeal, the man said, "The car driver did not stop the vehicle and continued to drive till Balapur, where he stopped. When I got down from the bonnet, the driver fled."

The vehicle eventually came to a halt in Balapur, after which the accused driver escaped from the spot, leaving behind the injured victims.

Police register case, probe underway

Following the incident, the victim approached the Meerpet police station and lodged a formal complaint. Police have registered a case against the car driver and initiated an investigation.

Officials said efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused, while the viral video is also being examined as part of the probe.
