BRS's KT Rama Rao Asks For Rs 25 Lakh Compensation For Gulzar Houz Fire Victims
BRS working president KT Rama Rao has raised a demand for compensation of Rs 25 lakhs to the families of victims of Gulzar Houz fire incident. According to the reports, KTR also held the state government responsible for the incident, in which, more than 17 people lost their lives.
KTR highlighted the absence of basic firefighting equipment such as oxygen cylinders, water, and breathing masks, which, if provided, could have potentially saved lives. The incident underscored the glaring gaps in emergency preparedness, particularly in areas teeming with people.

Expressing his condolences, Rama Rao visited the site and attended a memorial service organized by the Agarwal Samaj. He paid homage to the victims, a family with over 125 years of history in the vicinity of Charminar. During his speech, he condemned the Congress government for misallocating funds towards superficial events like beauty pageants rather than bolstering emergency services. He advocated for a comprehensive review of fire safety measures, emphasizing the need for regular drills, staff training, and infrastructural improvements to avert future tragedies.
Rama Rao also criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for not visiting the victims' families, a gesture that would have been significant given Reddy's roles in the Home and Municipal Administration departments.
He also labeled the government's compensation of Rs 5 lakh per victim as insufficient and proposed an increased ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh per victim. "This is not about politics, but it is about ensuring no one else has to endure such horror," he remarked, extending BRS's support to the affected families and urging the government to respond with compassion and empathy.
