Andhra Pradesh-Telangana Floods: 35 Killed, Over 450,000 Affected As Relief Efforts Intensify
Unprecedented rainfall and floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh resulted in 35 deaths, extensive damage to infrastructure, and agricultural losses. With ongoing rainfall, the situation remains critical.
Unprecedented rainfall and floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have resulted in 35 killed and significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture.
Sixteen people lost their lives in Telangana, while 19 died in Andhra Pradesh due to continuous downpour since Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain for some regions in both states on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister of Telangana has estimated the damage at around Rs 5,000 crore. He has requested immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore from the Centre. Additionally, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the floods a national calamity and visit the affected areas.

In Andhra Pradesh, nearly 450,000 people have been impacted by the heavy rains and subsequent flooding. Authorities have evacuated 31,238 individuals to relief camps. The most affected districts include NTR, Guntur, Krishna, Eluru, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Prakasam.
Relief and rescue operations are being conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has visited the flood-hit areas. He has requested additional boats and helicopters from the central government to aid in relief efforts.
The South Central Railway has cancelled 18 trains and diverted two others due to heavy rains and waterlogging. The Indian Navy has deployed two helicopters for search and rescue missions in the affected regions.
The situation remains critical as authorities continue their efforts to provide relief to those affected by this natural disaster. The focus is on ensuring safety and restoring normalcy as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, the NDRF team, along with Central forces and district officials provided food, drinking water, and other essential items to the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada through helicopters.
