Andhra Pradesh Sankranthi Holiday Dates: How Many Days Will Schools Be Remained Closed?

Sankranti this year will bring extended holidays, allowing students, professionals, and businesspeople to reunite with their families. Amid ongoing speculation about the holiday schedule, the Andhra Pradesh government has issued clarifications.

In Andhra Pradesh, reports about the duration of holidays created confusion, with claims ranging from five to nine days. Krishna Reddy, Director of SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training), confirmed the official holiday dates from January 13 to January 19, as per the 2024-25 academic calendar, as per the reports in the Telugu media.

Additionally, students effectively get two extra days off, as January 11 (second Saturday) and January 12 (Sunday) fall before the official start of the holidays, making it a nine-day break for students.

While students enjoy the festival, academic preparations will continue. Formative Assessment Exams-IV for class 10 students are scheduled to conclude by January 29, while students from classes 1 to IX will have exams by February 28.

Krishna Reddy dismissed rumors suggesting a shortened holiday period due to weather-related school closures in certain districts. He reiterated that the official Sankranti schedule remains unchanged and urged the public not to fall prey to misinformation.

Telangana

In Telangana, the State Board of Intermediate Education has yet to officially confirm holiday dates for intermediate students. However, the School Education Department announced a seven-day break from January 11 to January 17.

Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have aligned their schedules to provide students ample time to celebrate and prepare for upcoming exams, ensuring a balance between festivities and academics.
