Andhra Pradesh Budget Session Opens With Discord, TDP Stages Walkout

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget session commenced today, marked by a contentious start. During the joint session of the Assembly and Council, the Governor's address was met with dissent from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members. While both MLAs and MLCs were present, the TDP legislators voiced strong objections to specific points raised in the speech, attempting to disrupt its delivery. This discordant beginning overshadowed the formal inaugural proceedings, setting the stage for potentially fraught discussions in the coming days.

On the first day of the Andhra Pradesh Budget session, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demonstrated a walkout. TDP MLAs and MLCs expressed dissatisfaction with the YSRCP government amidst police posts and barricades.

TDP raised concerns about the non-release of job calendars and the prolonged delay of the Polavaram project, among other burning issues. TDP representatives asserted that the Jagan Reddy-ruled state government has failed Andhra Pradesh, and there is nothing more to be discussed.

Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna also criticized the Jagan administration for using police force to suppress the opposition, stating that there is no law and order in the state.

After the Governor's address, the speaker adjourned the assembly for Tuesday. Later, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) was held. In this meeting, it was decided to continue the sessions until the 8th. The TDP boycotted the BAC meeting. The motion of thanks for the Governor's address will be debated in the Legislature tomorrow (Tuesday).
