Amid 70-Hour Work-Week Debate, Video Of This Hyderabad Walk-In Interview Will Make You Think

Days after Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy asked the youths to work 70 hours a week, triggering a big debate around the topic, a video of job seekers waiting outside a firm's gates during a walk-in has surfaced online.

In the viral clip, hundreds of youths are standing outside a firm's gate to take part in the walk-in interview. The clip gives an impression of a stampede-like situation as enthusiastic job seekers try to get entry through the gates.

However, Oneindia has not independently verified the authenticity of the clip.

Recently, a similar video had surfaced from Kolkata where a huge crowd was seen outside Wipro's office during its walk-in interview drive, with thousands of people waiting for their chance.

A video shared by a user has astonished many, depicting numerous applicants gathered outside the office premises during the walk-in interview sessions.

Narayana Murthy's 70-Hour Work Comment
NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, has sparked a nationwide discussion by proposing that India's youth should be ready to commit 70 hours per week to enhance the country's work culture and effectively compete on the global stage.

On the first episode of 'The Record', a video series by 3one4 Capital, Murthy told former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai about the need for changing the country's productivity.

"Somehow our youth have the habit of taking not so desirable habits from the west and then not helping the country," he said.

However, his comments have met with mixed response with many criticising his views. While one section of people have welcomed his remarks, another set of people have slammed his comments saying that the employees are already being exploited and underpaid.
