Ganja Cultivation and Smuggling in the Region
Ganja cultivation is prevalent in certain pockets of Visakhapatnam, other districts in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring Odisha. Over recent months, numerous smugglers have been apprehended in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while attempting to transport ganja to other states, according to a report in The Times of India.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Andhra Pradesh has intensified efforts to combat ganja smuggling. Recently, the ANTF held a coordination meeting with Odisha police to devise strategies for curbing narcotics smuggling and eradicating ganja cultivation at its source.
