What to expect from the Cabinet reshuffle?
The post of Youth and Sports minister which fell vacant after Sarbananda Sonowal took over as Chief Minister of Assam is likely to be filled by Ramen Deka. Two persons from Uttar Pradesh are likely to be inducted as ministers. Further new faces from Punjab and Uttarakhand too may find their way into the Cabinet keeping in mind the upcoming polls.
The BJP had also decided that it would drop ministers who are above the age of 75. There is a likelihood of Najma Heptullah being replaced by Mukthar Abbas Naqvi. There would however be no changes made to the Finance, Defence, Home and Extrenal Affairs portfolios.
The Prime Minister had on June 30 reviewed the performance of various ministries. He had sought to know during the five hour meeting whether the budgetary allocation had been spent and schemes implemented.
