Varanasi (pics): Modi's rally on 'Jummavar' a victory; is it a sign?
Varanasi, Dec 21: "When the Friday comes, at every door of the Masjid there stands Angels who write down (the names of) those who come First, then who comes next. When the Imam sits down, the records are closed and they come to listen to the reminder , i.e. the Khutba...."
This is what the Holy Prophet Muhammad had meant by Jumma prayer. Let us not analyse why the leader chose this particular day of the week for a rally in Varanasi as that would have varied interpretations.
The 'game' of politics
What held our interest was the conglomeration at the Khajuri village that bursted with people. ON a first glance, one cannot make the difference between a rally and a cricket stadium with BJP fans doning the tricolour on their bodies with the lotus in the middle, almost similar to fans in a cricket stadium with India winning the match.
First signs, we would say...a national game and a national leader getting the same exhilerated reception.
Ram(ming) up
Modi's timing was immaculate when he spoke of the Ram Rajya (not referring to India's sore wound of the 'Ram Temple') and the flowing river Ganga as 'Maa'. Now here, please refrain from drawing unnecessary conclusions. It was a festive occassion and rally took a spiritual and emotional turn with the ambience.....perhaps. A good sign for the second time, Modi bridging between a Jummavar and Hindu spirituality.
Listen to me
"I have faith in the people of Uttar Pradesh. Your ancestors had established Ram rajya. Had the people not been empowered, there would never have been Ram rajya here. The state has all that is needed for Ram rajya. The strength, tradition and will needed for establishing Ram rajya is there in you," Modi said. If still there are problems here it is because you have not chosen the right government. I have full faith that the day you do so, this (Ram rajya) can become a reality," he said.
What, however followed was the procedural ramming of the opposition and the claims and the demands of the party. However, it really remains to be seen whether Modi is our angel in the waiting. Amen!
