These brave teens helped bust an international sex racket
Human trafficking in itself is deplorable, more so when it involves minors and that too with an aim to push them into flesh trade. Thousands of minor girls, mostly from Nepal, become victims of this and remain trapped in it for years.

Law enforcement agencies, NGOs and several other groups have been relentlessly working for decades to curb this menace which is a blot on the society. It cannot be left just the NGOs and the police to work towards weeding out this evil, the society also should play a part.
Teenagers Tejasweeta Pradhan (18) and Shivani Gond (17), volunteers of Students Against Trafficking Club (SATC), played an important role in helping authorities bust an international sex racket. Their efforts, which would surely inspire the country, led to the arrest of the mastermind in Delhi.
Shivani's brother Vishal Gond works for NGO MARG (Mankind in Action for Rural Growth) which runs SATC. The NGO received a request to trace a missing minor girl, who had gone missing from Nepal. Tejasweeta and Shivani agreed to be part of the plan to bust the ring, as worked out by the police and CBI.

The missing girl was being used as a conduit by the trafficking ring to lure more girls. Tejasweeta and Shivani befriended the missing girl on Facebook and started chatting. They pretended that were in need of employment. After days of interaction, the SATC volunteers were sent fake Aadhaar card and asked to meet the ring members at a hotel, somewhere on the Indo-Nepal border.
Tejasweeta and Shivani went to the location they were asked to come along with police officials around, disguised in civilian clothes. A lady and a man who turned up to meet the girls were apprehended by the police and later the sex racket ring's mastermind was also caught.
For their brave act fearless determination to fight to evil of human trafficking, Tejasweeta and Shivani from West Bengal were awarded the prestigious Geeta Chopra Award.
