Sunanda's mysterious death: Know famous cases related with cocktail of glamour, politics and money

After series of twists and turns in the Sunanda Pushkar death case, finally it has been confirmed now that the celebrity was murdered. The Delhi Police on Tuesday said that politician Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda didn't die natural death instead she was murdered.

Sunanda's husband and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor said that he was "stunned" over Delhi Police registering a murder case in the mysterious death case and demanded a "comprehensive investigation" in the matter.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy claimed that Sunanda Pushkar wanted to tell the truth. Attacking Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Swamy said, "He is a liar, the more he opens his mouth the more trouble he is going to get into". Shashi Tharoor will be grilled by the police in coming days to check all the angles related to this sensational murder case of 2014.

Though it is yet to be established who actually murdered Sunanda Pushkar, but it can be concluded that she fell prey to the dirty game of glamour and politics.

Anuradha Bali alias Fiza died in 2012

Former deputy Chief Minister of Haryana and son of Bhajan Lal Chander Mohan aka Chand Mohammad adopted Islam in 2008 to marry Anuradha Bali.

Bali also had to convert Fiza Mohammad as Hindu law doesn't allow to marry twice . Furious with the controversial marriage , Chander was disowned by his father at that time. But suprisingly, in January 2009, Mohan left Ms Bali claiming that he still loved his first wife and wanted to reunite with her. The 39-year-old Fiza, a former assistant advocate general of Haryana was found dead in Mohali in 2012.

Bhanwari Devi case(2011)

The case hit the headlines in 2011 in which Rajasthan's Congress Minister Mahipal Maderna was allegedly involved. Bhanwari Devi, a nurse who was posted as auxiliary nurse midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, around 120 km from Jodhpur district went missing on September 1, 2011.

Her husband Amarchand alleged that she was abducted at the behest of Maderna and his associates.

However, the CBI in its chargesheet said that Bhanwari Devi had demanded Rs 50 lakh from Maderna with whom she was shown in a compromising position in a CD. Later in the year she was declared dead by the police.

Air hostess Geetika Sharma murder case

Geetika was found dead on August 5, 2012 at her Ashok Vihar residence in North West Delhi. In her suicide note, she had said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda. Kanda, who is facing trial in the suicide case is currently out on bail. Recently, he launched his own political outfit named Haryana Lokhit Party.

Madhumita Shukla murder case

This murder case of a poetess came to light in 2003 in which heavy weight politician from Uttar Pradesh, Amarmani Tripathi was involved. Tripathi and his wife Madhumani were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Dehradun court in 2007 for hatching a conspiracy in the case.

Model Jessica Lall murder case

Jessica Lal was shot by Manu Sharma on April 29, 1999 at a party in Qutub Colonnade restaurant in South Delhi. High Court awarded life imprisonment term to Manu Sharma, son of the former Indian National Congress Minister Venod Sharma in 2006.

Journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case

Correspondent with English daily Indian Express, Shivani Bhatnagar was allegedly killed by senior IPS officer Ravi Kant Sharma in her Navkunj Apartment flat at I P Extension in East Delhi on January 23, 1999. The lower court had on March 24, 2008, convicted four persons including R K Sharma in the case.

But, in 2011, the High Court acquitted Sharma in the case.
