Smriti Irani Yamuna Expressway Accident - What Actually Happened?

Union Minister for Human Resources Development Smriti Irani met with an accident on Saturday night while returning from Mathura. She had gone there to attend a BJP youth convention.

In the accident she had received minor injuries. As per the preliminary information available it was reported on the night of the accident that the collision took place when a motorcyclist Ramesh Kumar hit a Honda City car. Minister's escort vehicle rammed into the Honda City car that had met with the accident. Mrs. Irani's car then rammed into the escort vehicle after failing to control its speed.

Post the accident Minister had replied to those who showed concern for her well-being in a series of tweets.

Sandili Nagar's version of the accident:

One media reported that Ramesh Nagar, was killed after a car in the minister's convoy hit him on the Noida Expressway and his children have alleged in an FIR or police complaint that the minister ignored them and she and her cousin waited for many hours for medical attention.

As per Sandili Nagar,

"The HRD minister's car hit our bike, which was at slow speed. Our bike fell. I asked for help but they said no. They said you can get help later. If she wanted, she could have helped us. If she had helped us, my father would have been there with us."

As per Sandili Nagar's claim Smriti Irani walked out of her car which was damaged and got into another car and drove off.

HRD minister's office replied to the allegations by Sandili Nagar that the accident took place long before Minister's convoy reached the site. Smriti Irani's staff says that she saw what had happened and called local activists of the BJP's youth wing ABVP for help.
