Ramanagaram Vidhan Sabha seat

Ramanagara is a town and a city municipal council. It is also the headquarters of Ramanagara district. Ramanagara is located on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.

Ramanagara is famous for its sericulture, and is nicknamed Silk Town and Silk City . The silk produced in this region forms the input for the famous Mysore Silk. Arkeshwara Temple, Malleshwara Temple, Banni mahakali temple and Chamundeshwari temple are famous in Ramanagara.

Rock climbing enthusiasts also visit Ramanagara. Climbers have been undertaking technical climbing in and around the hills of Ramanagara since the 1960s.

H D Kumara Swamy from JDS is the current MLA and he defeated Congress party's Maridevaru by 25,398 votes. Kumara Swamy is the son of former prime minister H D Devegowda and a prominent politician in Karnataka. He was chief minister of Karnataka from 4, February 2006 to 9, October 2007.
