To further encourage her to fulfil her "ultimate dream" of becoming an IAS officer, the state district administration decided to make her the district collector of Jhunjhunu for a day on Friday.

Vandana Kumari, who topped the class 12 arts stream examinations, conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, was made the district collector for a day in Jhunjhunu, stated a report by ANI.

Talking about why she was honoured with the post for a day, the current district collector of Jhunjhunu, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, told ANI, "She wanted to join the civil services and we wanted to encourage her. So we made her the district collector for a day."

The shy and hardworking teenager was happy that the district administration felt that she was worthy of the post. "It's a matter of great pride for my family and me that I have been made the district collector for a day. I always wanted to become an IAS officer and serve people. I will work more hard to fulfil my dreams," said Vandana.

Talking about her experience of getting a glimpse of bureaucracy, Vandana said that it is a big responsibility and IAS officers are nothing less than heroes themselves. "Most of them work in difficult terrains without facilities to help poor and needy. I too want to work for the disadvantaged section of society," smiled the youngster.

Her teacher say Vandana, the topper, is always a hardworking student and they are confident that she would become an IAS officer in the future.
