Mahesh Sharma - The doctor who found a place in Modi government through sheer commitment

A medical practitioner who won the Lok Sabha elections 2014 from Gautam Budh Nagar in

, took oath as Ministers of State (Independent Charge) for Culture,

and Civil Aviation in the

government.

It has been a long journey for 55-year-old Mahesh Sharma who snatched the Gautam Budh Nagar Lok Sabha seat from the Samajwadi Party.

Sharma is also a member of Parliament's Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare.

Sharma is known for his networking skills and the financial muscle.

Despite being extremely busy professionally, he has always found time to fulfil his duties towards the BJP and that is something that helped him reach this position.

The association with the hospital - which continues to provide emergency services and medical treatment at reduced cost for the poor - has been an important factor in his political success.

A staunch follower of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood, he actively associated with ABVP during his student days and thereafter joined BJP as an active member. He participated and managed previous eight elections of Lok Sabha and state Assembly at Gautam Budh Nagar and was elected as MLA from Noida Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh in March 2012.

He became the first MLA of Noida, winning by a massive margin of more than 27,000 votes. He won the Parliamentary elections, getting 50 per cent of the votes in the district.

A doctorate from Amity University, Sharma got Business Sphere Award for 2009-2010 for Best Super Speciality Hospital for the Masses apart from bagging numberous national and international awards in different fields.

Sharma is a doctor by profession and holds an MBBS degree and is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Kailash Healthcare Limited which is situated in Noida.
