New Delhi, Dec 8: Just 6 months in politics, this academician has proved that its perseverence, honesty and education that drives the mass in India.

Unlike popular notion that the Indians turn a blind eye to politics and later crib about their own choices has got a huge blow when the Kejriwal-led AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) is playing a fierce contender to BJP (having swept Congress out of the scene).

While it is Modi wave across the country that is winning BJP accolades, Arvind wave is no less, especially since it has been able to crack down on the 15-year old government that made hollowed promises.

Who is Arvind Kejriwal?

Born in Hisar, Haryana, on 16 August 1968, Arvind had a very good educational background. He did his mechanical engineering from IIT, Kharagpur and qualified the Civil Service Examinations in 1992 and joined as the Joint Commissioner in the Income Tax Department.

Championing 'Parivartan'

An honest officer of the Income Tax department, he spearheaded a movement named 'Parivartan' that focussed primarily on navigating income tax, electricity and food ration matters in various parts of Delhi. Follwoign this, he unravelled the fake ration card scam in Delhi in 2008.

Following the Anna Hazare-led campaign on Jan Lokpal Bill, he became the civil society representative member of the committee that was constituted by the Government of India to draft the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Championing politics

He established the Aam Aadmi Party in November 2012. Representing the "aam aadmi" or the "common man", the party decided to field its candidature for the 2013 Assembly Elections.

The winning move

After 3 months of relentless hardwork and campaigning, AAP defeated the three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
