Modi ushers Achche Din: 5 recent achievements prove it
In mere 50 days the Modi Government has so far made some significant achievements which are just small steps taken for a long journey of bringing our economy back on track. From the very beginning, Prime Minsiter Modi took wise steps such as keeping a lean cabinet and saved the exchequer nearly Rs 125 crore.
Modi was also criticised when he warned the people of 'tough decisions' over the next two years to nurse ailing economy but these steps which are bitter pills at present will help in curing our country from many chronic diseases in future. Here are few examples of Modi Government's achievements so far which has benefitted the public as well as the Government and is an outcome of the "bitter pills".

Railways registers 9 per cent hike in Income
With the launch of a new website, performance of IRCTC is up and it has started working in a better way.
According to railway ministry data, Indian Railways has registered over 9 percent increase in its income in the April-June quarter of this year as compared to the previous year's quarter.
The Railways earned Rs 36,674.17 crore during April-June 2014 as compared to Rs.33,499.53 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.48 percent.
The total earnings from goods or freight during April-June period was Rs 24,850.37 crore compared to Rs 23,214.60 crore during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 7.05 percent, it said. The earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 1,011.35 crore during this period as against Rs 972.58 crore in the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 3.99 per cent. The total number of passengers booked during this period was 2103.35 million compared to 1959.73 million during the same period last year, which was an increase of 7.33 percent, the data said.

Inflation dips to a four month low
Inflation receded to four-month low of 5.43 per cent in June, although bleak situation of the monsoon continues to remain a cause for concern.
The Wholesale Price Index based inflation declined in June after touching 5-month high of 6.01 per cent in May.
Prices of vegetables during the month declined by 5.89 per cent from May, edible oils - 0.75 per cent, sugar - 2.09 per cent. Onion prices were down by 10.7 per cent.

Bringing Indians caught in ‘Iraq crisis’ home
The ISIS, terror group in Iraq, shook not only the Arab world, but also the entire world with its inhumane act of killing of Shias in Iraq and keeping civilians captive. Even Indian nurses working in Iraq got stuck in the middle of this war. It was the first big diplomatic victory for the Modi Government which ensured safe return of Indians from the war torn Iraq.

Health services for poor
The Modi government has decided to make X-Ray, MRI and CT scans free of cost for the poor at government hospitals.
Presently, the free X-ray, MRI and CT Scan facility has been extended to Safdarjang Hospital in Delhi. However, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has asked Director General of Health Services to prepare a proposal for extending this benefit to poor people at government hospitals across India.
Even the latest reports suggests that prices of widely-used expensive anti-diabetic and cardiac medicines will also be reduced by as much as 35% over the next few weeks.

Aadhar gets a lifeline
As the fate of UPA government's flagship Aadhaar project and the Direct Benefits Transfer scheme was not clear, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought a 100-crore enrolment target under Aadhaar and also asked officials to look into linking passports with its data.
A decisive push to all Aadhaar-based DBT schemes, including for LPG, was given by the incumbent Government which was scrapped by the erstwhile UPA regime.
