The IT boom in the city over the last few decades has led to the expansion and development of areas that were once considered villages on the outskirts of the city. The industrial town of Mahadevapura has been reclaimed and rejuvenated, and now serves as a prime residential destination for the young IT workforce.
Mahadevapura has become a major information technology hub in recent years. It houses several IT companies such as Accenture, Dell EMC, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Mphasis, Samsung, Sapient Corporation and Wells Fargo. It is also in close proximity to ITPL and other IT hubs such as Whitefield, Marathahalli and Bellandur.
It also houses many industrial establishments like Geers and Pinions, Jaico Automobile Engineering, United Telecom, IFB Industries, Brown Box Pvt. Ltd., Quantum Power Systems and Graphite India Research & Development Center are established, to add pride to Bengaluru, the famous and renowned Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant is also situated over here.
The areas like Dodda Nekkundi Industrial Estate and Hale Devasandra come under Mahadevapura Municipal council. Even though Mahadevapura is a huge industrial area, eucalyptus plantations are found in the surrounding of the area and this plantation covers over wide spread.
In this rich green environ there are many reputed educational institutions like S.M. English School, Gopalan International School, St. Anne's English Medium School, Swami Vivekananda Education Trust's Vivekananda College Of Nursing are established.
The current MLA is Arvind Limbavali of BJP, won against A.C.Srinivas of Congress.
