Karnataka: Magadi Vidhansabha Constituency
Magadi is a town in Ramanagara district. It is located 31 km from District headquarters Ramanagara. Magadi is a Taluk head quarter. Magadi was the capital of Kempe Gowda who founded Bengaluru in the 16th century. Some noted historical sites in and around Magadi are the Savandurga, the Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Tirumale where a fair is held every April, the ruins of Magadi fort and the Gavi Gangadeshwara temple.
Gavi Gangadeshwara temple is a cave temple and an architecture marvel where sunlight falls on the Shiv Linga inside only on the Makara Sankranti day.
H.C.Balakrishna from JDS is the current MLA and he defeated Congress party's A.Manjunath by 14,359 votes.
