Karnataka Elections: Gundlupet Assembly Constituency
Gundlupet or Gundlupete is a town in the Chamarajanagar district. This small town is about 56 km from the Mysore-Ooty / Mysore-Calicut NH 212 highway.Gundlupet is the last town in Karnataka en route to Ooty, Wayanad, Kozhikode, situated very close to Tamil Nadu and Kerala state borders. The Bandipur National Park forest is 16 km from Gundlupet.

Previously this town was known as ""Vijayapura"" which got its name due presence of historical Vijayanarayana temple.
Main crops are jowar, ragi, sugar cane, turmeric, onion and banana.
Tourist places near by are Himavad Gopalswamy hills, Bandipur National Park, Huluganamuradi Venkataramana betta, Paarvati Betta, Terakanabi and Triyambakpura temples, Narasamangala shiva temple, Manchalli cave temple, Padaguru lingayth math and Yariyuru Bisilu Basappa temple.
In a morale-boosting electoral triumph, the 2017 by-poll election here saw Congress candidate Geetha Mahadev Prasad, wife of late Mahadev Prasad winning the constituency against BJP's Niranjan Kumar.
