Karnataka Elections: Chamaraja Assembly Constituency
Chamaraja constituency is part of Mysore district. Mysore district has 11 assembly constituencies and Chamaraja is one among them. Mysore corporation ward numbers 21 to 43 and 61 fall under this constituency.
Mysore is also called the City of Palaces because of several ornate examples in the city. Among the most notable are Amba Vilas, popularly known as Mysore Palace; Jaganmohana Palace, which also serves as an art gallery. Rajendra Vilas, also known as the summer palace; Lalitha Mahal, which has been converted into a hotel and Jayalakshmi Vilas.
Mysore is noted for its heritage structures and palaces, including the Mysore Palace, and for the festivities that take place during the Dasara festival when the city receives a large number of tourists from across the world.
It lends its name to various forms arts and culture like Mysore Dasara, Mysore Painting; dishes like the sweet dish Mysore Pak, Mysore masala dosa; brands like Mysore Sandal Soap, Mysore Ink; styles and cosmetics like Mysore Peta (a traditional silk turban) and the Mysore Silk sarees.
Vasu from the Congress is the current MLA and he defeated H.S.Shankaralinge Gowda of JDS.
