Karnataka elections: Byatarayanapura Vidhan Sabha Seat

Gali Anjaneya (Hanuman) Temple is one of the oldest and sacred temples in the city located in Mysore Road, Byatarayanapura. Saint Sri Vyasaraya of Channapattana, devotee to Lord Anjaneya has built around 732 temples for the Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman). It is believed that Sri Vyasaraya established this temple in the year 1425 at the convergence of two rivers - Vrishabhavathi and Paschimavahini. At present only industrial waste is flowing making Vrishabhavathi seem more similar to drain rather than river.

It is believed that once the idol of the Lord Anjaneya open to Gali (Gali means Air language), hence the name Gali Anjaneya. It is also believed that since Anjaneya (Hanuman) is son of Vayu, the wind God therefore Gali Anjaneya.

Byatarayanapura is one of the largest constituency in the city. There are several good layouts and others which crave basic amenities. IT-BT and other companies co-exist with new areas added to the constituency which demand basic amenities and more.

The constituency has elite educational institutions and also Government schools which lack quality and facilities. Hence it is a constituency with several contrasts.
There are 7 wards and 3 Zilla Panchayats with a voter base of 3.68 lakh.

The current MLA is Krishna Byre Gowda from Congress and he defeated A Ravi of BJP.
