CS Puttaraju's political journey:

• JD(S) nominee CS Puttaraju was former MLA from Melukote, elected in 2008. His campaign saw him visiting temples and offering prayers. In his rallies, he targeted CM Siddaramaiah on water issues and branded him as "anti-farmer".
• In the 2014 General Election, he defeated incumbent Indian National Congress candidate, film actress, Ramya by taking 5,24,370 votes and became a member of the 16th Lok Sabha representing Mandya in Karnataka. He was a two time MLA from Pandavapura constituency.
