Is Pakistani politician’s 'odd' campaign to ask for votes inspired by Swachh Bharat Abhiyan?
In order to highlight the issue of faulty sewage system in Karachi, Motiwala was recently seen lying down on dirty water.
Islamabad, July 2: What will be Pakistan's version of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission? If ever the neighbouring country gets inspired by India to start a campaign on the lines of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the country clean and hygienic, Pakistan will definitely make Ayaz Memom Motiwala as its mascot.
Now, you must be wondering who is Motiwala. Motiwala is a politician from Karachi, Pakistan who is contesting the upcoming elections in the country as an independent candidate.

As a part of his campaign to ask for votes, Motiwala recently decided to host a unique campaign (more than unique, it was rather bizarre and crazy). In order to highlight the issue of faulty sewage system in Karachi, Motiwala was recently seen lying down on dirty water.
Thereafter, he also drank sewage water. All this while, as he was busy with his antics he also tried to hold the national flag in his hands. Motiwala went live on Facebook to tell the voters of the city that the ruling and opposition parties' politicians have never tried to improve the infrastructure of Karachi and he is the only hope for them.
His campaign went viral on social media in Pakistan and India too. However, not all were impressed with his style of campaigning. Many commented on social media that Motiwala staged the dharna (protest) to attract attention and garner votes.
"You seem like funny and crazy," wrote Malik Bilawal, a Pakistani resident, on Facebook. "Comedian nahee, leader chaiyah (We don't need comedian, we need leader)," wrote Junayd Qazy on Facebook.
While Motiwala received myriad range of reactions, his protest campaign succeeded in giving him his "15 minutes of fame" on social media. Now, it is up to the voters of Pakistan whether or not to elect him as their representative in the upcoming polls.
