In pictures: Kanwariya's return from Haridwar
The Kanwariyas on Thursday returned Delhi after walking from Haridwar for continuous 14 days and carried Ganga Jal along with them to offer at the local temple as a gesture of thanks giving. During this holy month of Saawan the devotees of lord Shiva, better known as Kanwariyas hit the roads barefoot to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar in Uttarakhand to seeks blessings of Lord Shiva.
The Kanwar Yatra has gained popularity so much in the past that increasing traffic of the devotees have created chaos in the Delhi-NCR region. The yatra consists of thousands of devotees from neighbouring States of Delhi like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh.
The annual pilgrimage proved to be a big nuisance for Delhi, NCR residents as their sojourn near residential area and playing of loud music throughout the night has effected the residents. Though they have pandals set up at various locations to feed them and take care of Kanwariyas but yet they have been caught spreading hooliganism in several parts of Delhi-NCR region. OneIndia met few Kanwariyas at Nehru Nagar, New Delhi who were found smoking and drinking bhang which only shows, how much dedicated they are to their religion. Though some of them are truly dedicated but few of them are found to be spreading hooliganism in the name of religion.
