Bangalore, Sept 17: The number of Ebola cases in West Africa could start doubling every three weeks and it could end up costing nearly $1 billion to contain the crisis, the World Health Organization warned on Tuesday.
The UN health agency said a total of 4,985 people had been infected across five west African countries, and that 2,461 had died.
Meanwhile, voting for Fiji's general elections started on Wednesday, the first election since the military coup in 2006.
The country has a large ethnic Indian population. More than 527,000 electorates are expected to cast their votes in the polls. Mohammed Saneem, supervisor of elections, reported on Wednesday morning that all polling stations opened at 7.30 a.m. without any issues, Fiji Live reported.
