Lucknow, June 5: As the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav- led Samajwadi Party is in the eye of storm over rising cases of crime against women, the unfortunate incidents have not only outraged the nation, but has also hit the headlines in the international media.

Shamefully, after a spate of rapes and gangrapes in UP, SP leaders have given weird arguments, saying sometimes when relationship between girls and boys come out in open, it is "termed as rape".

On Wednesday, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav lashed out at media saying, "You do your job, I will do mine."

Amid worldwide outrage over the Badaun gangrape and murder incident, Akhilesh on Tuesday accused media of highlighting cases occurring in UP while ignoring those in other states.

In a major embarrassment for the ruling SP in UP, even foreign media has taken note of rape incidents in UP.

On brutal gangrape and murder of two teenaged cousin sisters in Badaun district, Marie Harf, US State Department deputy spokesperson said, "Like, I think, so many in India, we were 'horrified' to learn of these violent sexual assaults and murders, our thoughts are with the victims' families during this difficult time."

United Nations also condemned the "brutal" gang rape and murder of two teenaged girls in Badaun, calling for "immediate action against the perpetrators and to address violence against women and girls across India".
