Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, brings ‘magic’ moments to J&K students with special gifts

British author JK Rowling has sent special gifts to students of Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, June 26: Do you believe in magic? A group of students from Jammu and Kashmir has started believing that "magic" does happen in life, especially if you are blessed by none other than popular British author of the Harry Potter series fame, JK Rowling.

Yes, Rowling has recently sent a gift box full of goodies, which consisted of personalised handwritten notes, inscribed books and a few Harry Potter merchandises for the young students of Haji Public School in Breswana village of Doda district in the state.

The pictures of smiling children opening their gift box sent by the queen of wizardry and trickery have gone viral on social media. Rowling's lovely gesture for the school children has left everyone with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Director of Haji Public School, Sabbah Haji, took to Twitter to tell the world how Rowling has left the students mighty happy with her gifts.

Thanking the best-selling British author, Haji wrote on Twitter, "HELLO, WORLD. SO @jk_rowling SENT A HUGE GIFT BOX FOR KULSUM AND FRIENDS. HANDWRITTEN NOTE, INSCRIBED BOOK, AND THIS IS ALMOST TOO MUCH TO HANDLE. We are so thrilled and squeaky, I cannot even. Thank you so much, Ms Rowling."

The "magical" journey between the children of the remote village and the author-philanthropist started in April after 12-year-old student of the school, Kulsum, a Harry Potter fan and one among her family's first generation to learn English, wrote an essay on JK Rowling.

Haji posted the essay written by Kulsum on Twitter and tagged Rowling too. Rowling, who shares a great bond with millions of her young readers, replied to the post immediately asking for Kulsum's address.

And almost two months later in June, Rowling fulfilled her promise as she sent Kulsum and her classmates a box of gifts including entire book series, magic wands, Hedwig figure and bookmarks among others.

"Today was our last day of class before Term 1 exams and look what arrived in the mail. GIFTS FROM JKR with personalized notes for Kulsum. All of class 7 (along with their director @imsabbah) lost their minds," Kulsum's teacher wrote on Twitter.

The British author wrote on Twitter that she was "so happy it got there! I was getting worried! Xxx."

Rowling's love and kindness towards the students of Jammu and Kashmir, where many children don't even get a chance to attend schools regularly because of turmoil and violence, garnered a lot of positive feedback on Twitter. Here we bring you a few of them:
