Gujarat elections: Congress candidate from Choryasi constituency- Yogeshbhai B. Patel

Surat West is third assembly constituency carved out of Surat city.

The Congress party's candidate from the Choryasi Assembly Constituency for the Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 is Yogeshbhai B. Patel. Yogeshbhai main opponent in 2017 assembly polls would be against BJP's Jhaknaben Patel, who is the wife of current MLA Hitesh Patel.

The Choryasi assembly constituency is situated in Surat district of Gujarat. A Congress stronghold since 1962, things changed in the BJP's favor in 1995. Ever since, the constituency has only elected BJP candidates in successive assembly elections.

In 2016 by-elections, BJP's Hitesh Patel defeated Congress party's Dhansukhbhai Bhagwatiprasad Rajput by 45,438. In 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections, BJP's Rajendrabhai Parabhubhai Patel had defeated Congress party's Satishbhai Champakbhai Patel by 67,638.
