Dawood Ibrahim's latest investment: A plot in Dubai

How close are we to nabbing Dawood Ibrahim? While India has been making some headway in cracking down on his activities, the don has recently made an advance payment towards a plot in Dubai at a cost of 3 lakh Dirhams.

While Dawood continues with his activities out of Karachi unabated, Indian agencies have decided to up the ante against his activities in India.

The arrest of Shyam Kihor alias Black Scorpion from Goa three days back is a major boost for the Indian security establishment. Kishor was a sharpshooter for the D Gang and his arrest is a major blow for the Dawood syndicate.

On the other hand the conviction of Abu Salem will also provide the necessary boost for the Indian security establishment. His conviction would send a message to the underworld syndicate that the law eventually catches up to them.

What is Dawood currently up to?

While these developments in India will have an impact on Dawood Ibrahim, he has been treading cautiously on his activities off late. Two months back there was an intercept suggesting that he was investing in a real estate project in Karachi.

The latest intercept on him makes it clear that he is involved in a real estate project in Dubai. A call made by Dawood from Karachi to a man by the name Yasir in Dubai spells out the details of this deal.

Dawood is heard inquiring about a plot on which a new project is meant to come up in Dubai. Yasir tells him that it is a good investment and he would need to send 300000 Dirhams as advance payment for the same.

The conversation between the two then moves to a man called Ali Yakub. Yasir tells Dawood to send the money through Ali Yakub. Dawood replies that Ali is currently in Karachi and he would be flying into Dubai soon and the money would be sent through him.

Both of them agree to the arrangement and hang up the phone. The deal went on to be struck last Saturday and Dawood had no problem in moving Ali Yakub out of Karachi to Dubai with the money and this is largely thanks to the extended support of the Pakistan agencies.

Dawood's voice confirmed

Indian Intelligence Bureau officials tell OneIndia that they have verified this call thoroughly and found it to be the voice of the don. He has been operating out of Karachi and the news of him being moved out was a distraction caused by the ISI.

In reality he never was moved out of Karachi. He had only visited Bangladesh recently with the help of the ISI and this was to do with a meeting he held in one of his guest houses over there, the official also points out.

Why is Dawood investing so much in real estate

Dawood has always known to be a major investor in real estate. It would not be entirely right to suggest that his drug and arms deals have taken the back seat.

While the ISI ensures that both arms and drugs are being pushed regularly they have however advised Dawood not to get directly involved in it.

Earlier Dawood would be the one making the call to his men directly, but now he has been advised not to. The ISI knows that every call made by Dawood is being intercepted not just by the Indian agencies, but by the US too.

The ISI feels that calls regarding real estate deals would not generate much heat where as a conversation pertaining to drugs or arms can get the international agencies on his back.
