BJP candidate from Sri Renukaji Assembly seat in Himachal: Balbir Chauhan

The electoral battle in Sri Renuka ji assembly constituency is going to be three cornered one.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s candidate from Sri Renuka ji assembly constituency for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 in Balbir Chauhan. Sri Renukaji Assembly Constituency is located in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. This constituency is reserved for scheduled caste candidates.

The electoral battle in Sri Renuka ji assembly constituency is going to be three cornered one. The current MLA from this seat is Congress' Vinay Kumar who had defeated BJP's Hirdaya Ram by a wafer thin margin of 655 votes in 2012 assembly elections. Hirdaya Ram is now contesting as an independent after being denied a ticket by the BJP this time.

BJP's nominee Balbir Chauhan has a sizeable support in the Nohradhar and Boghdhar belt while Hirdaya Ram has strong support in the areas like Haripur Dhar. Vinay Kumar would go to the elections based on the work done by him in his current term. Vinay Kumar is son of Congress stalwart Prem Singh who won from this seat for six terms from 1982 to 2007, except in 1990.
