Airtel revamps Rs 149 and Rs 399 prepaid plans: Check what’s new
In order to take on arch-rival Reliance Jio, Airtel has revised its two of the more popular prepaid plans of Rs 149 and Rs 399 yet again. But this time, it hasn't turned out to be a good news for Airtel subscribers as the telco has rolled back the data benefits of these plans instead of offering more data this time.

Last month, the company offered 2GB data per day with the Rs 149 plan for select users, while at the same time, the Rs 399 prepaid plan gave some users 2.4GB data benefit per day.
Spotting Airtel's aggressive data offering, Jio introduced a Double Dhamaka offer to provide additional 1.5GB data benefit for every user on every prepaid recharge plan starting from Rs 149. Jio's offer ended on June 30, 2018, as the company did not extend the Double Dhamaka offer.
Revised Airtel plans
The Rs. 149 plan offers 1GB of data per day for a period of 28 days. Earlier, the plan was offering 2GB of data per day for the same validity. On the other hand, the Rs. 399 prepaid plan that offered 2.4GB of data per day offers 1.4GB of data per day now for 70 or 84 days.
Apart from these benefits, both these plans also offer unlimited local/STD and roaming calls to any network in the country without any daily or weekly FUP limit. The plans also offer 100 SMS messages per day. Notably, the Rs 399 prepaid plan offers 70 days validity for some subscribers while it is 84 days for others.
What has change?
Airtel was offering the same benefits earlier with these prepaid plans. The telecom operator was prompted to offer more data as Reliance Jio came up with the aggressive Double Dhamaka offer. This offer provided additional 1.5GB of data with all prepaid plans priced starting Rs. 149. Eventually, Airtel rolled out increased data benefits with its prepaid plans. Given that the Jio offer ended on Jun 20, Airtel has rolled out the data benefits of its plans.
Bharti Airtel has also revised its postpaid lineup which includes the Rs 499, Rs 649, Rs 799 and Rs 1,199 myPlan postpaid offers. That being said, the Airtel Rs. 649 postpaid plan now offers 90 per cent more data with the total data limit for the billing cycle being 90GB along with other benefits like unlimited local, STD as well as roaming calls, 100 SMS every day, add-on connection, one-year free subscription to Amazon Prime and more.
