Social media was abuzz with speculation that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the official custodian of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, had reduced the prices of the Tirumala Laddu and special darshan.

According to these posts, the price of the Laddu was cut from Rs 50 to Rs 25, and the cost of special darshan from Rs 300 to Rs 200. Many devotees, believing these reports, expressed their gratitude to the TTD, which operates under the Telugu Desam-led NDA alliance government.

However, is there any truth to these claims? The TTD has not announced any such price reduction on its website or official pages, nor has the TDP government released any statement.

According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, some devotees contacted TTD authorities to verify the news, only to be informed that the information circulating on social media was fake.

Authorities have urged devotees not to believe these misleading posts, which may have been spread by individuals with vested interests.

Meanwhile, the TTD has formally issued a statement stating that there is no change in the ticket prices.

The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, renowned worldwide, has a net worth of over Rs 2.5 lakh crore (approximately USD 30 billion).

This exceeds the market capitalisation of major companies like Wipro, Nestle, and state-owned giants ONGC and IOC. For the first time since its founding in 1933, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams declared its net worth, revealing assets that include 10.25 tonnes of gold deposits in banks, 2.5 tonnes of gold jewellery, approximately Rs 16,000 crore in bank deposits, and 960 properties across India, totalling over Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
