SS Rajamouli's 'Vikramarkudu' Pic Misused To Spread False Information About Sandeshkhali Violence

A picture attributed to violence in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali has gone viral on social media sites.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a photo depicting a distressed woman alongside a shirtless man, purportedly suggesting that TMC activists abducted a Hindu woman in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali.

He wrote, "*A Hindu woman kidnapped by TMC goons* This goon Jihadi is showing the victory sign* *Mamata Banerjee has left no stone unturned to convert West Bengal into Pakistan* *TMC is torturing Hindus, no one's sister, daughter-in-law is safe*" Many users shared the same picture adding more confusion in the minds of the netizens.

However, the reality is that this image is extracted from a scene Telugu movie 'Vikramarkudu', directed by 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' creator SS Rajamouli. Released in 2006, the movie had Ravi Teja playing dual roles with Anushka Shetty playing the female lead.

The movie was remade in Hindi as 'Rowdy Rathore' which starred Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

A large number of women in Sandeshkhali accused Trinamool Congress strongman Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters of "land-grab and sexually assaulting" them under coercion.

Women from the region hit the streets demanding the arrest of local TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh, who was nabbed by the cops on Saturday.

"We have arrested Shibaprasad Hazra from Sandeshkhali this evening. He will be produced before the court tomorrow," PTI quoted an officer of Nazat Police Station as saying.
