Has the Pakistan Army captured a woman pilot from the Indian Air Force? An account on X made the said claim with a picture along with a video that Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh has been captured by the Pakistan Air Force.

The person wrote: "There are news that Indian Female Air Force pilot squadron leader Shivani Singh captuted in Pakistan while she jumped from the jet, her is a video too watch out. By the way Chai Peeni Hey. After Abhinandan another one,"

In a follow-up post, the person added: "Pakistan will make another example as she is a female pilot officer and our religion Islam teaches us treat womens respectfully."

Fact Checking The Claims

Just minutes after the person made the claim, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) shot down the claims, claiming that it is "fake". It said: "Pro-Pakistan social media handles claim that an Indian Female Air Force pilot, Squadron Leader Shivani Singh, has been captured in Pakistan.This claim is FAKE!"

For the unversed, Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is an Indian serving in the Indian Navy. She hails from Fetehabad Village of Muzaffarpur District, Bihar and previously flew the pilatus aircraft. she is among the batch of the first three women pilots of the Indian Navy, including Lt Shubhangi Swaroop and Lt Divya Sharma.

Ever since India attacked the terror bases in Pakistan, there has been a lot of fake news and misinformation about India. The PIB has issued clarification on many fake news stories doing the rounds on social media sites.

Just a while ago, it issued on the fake claims on the Indian Pilot ejecting over the PoK, S-400 being destroyed by Pakistan and the IAF jets getting crashed in the Himalayas.

The Twitter handles have also claimed that a cyber attack by Pakistan has caused 70% of India's electricity grid to become dysfunctional.

Following the terrorist attack on Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, India carried out airstrikes at nine terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. Tensions have escalated as Islamabad is engaged with a drone war.
