Fact Check: Video of dogs chasing women not from Hyderabad

A footage has gone viral in which two women and a child on a scooter are seen chased by a pack of stray dogs.

The women lose control and hit a parked car after being chased by the dogs. The video says it has been shot at Gandhi Nagar 7th Lane.

The video was shared by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. He tagged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi and asked her to look into the issue. The same video was also shared on Facebook by other users claims that it was shot at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu.

Upon reverse searching the frames from the viral CCTV footage, we found that it was shot in Odisha and not in Jammu or Hyderabad.

We also found a report in the Hindustan Times, which spoke about two women and a child on a scooter being chased by stray dogs.

A report by news agency ANI also said that the video was shot in Odisha. While sharing the video, the ANI tweet said, "Odisha: A woman was scared of being bitten by stray dogs rammed her scooters into a car parked on the side of the road in Berhampur city. There were three people on the scooty and all three have sustained injuries in the incident." The tweet was posted on April 4.

The video that has once again gone viral was also fact-checked by the Telangana government. In a tweet the government said that the video is from Odisha and not Hyderabad.

The incident was also reported by Odishatv.in. As per this report, the incident took place on April 3 at Gandhinagar lane 7 in Berhampur. The entire accident was captured by a CCTV camera installed at the spot. The victims have been identified as Surpriya, Sasmita and her child, the report also read.

Hence it is clear that the incident of the accident which took place after two women and child on a scooter were chased by dogs is from Odisha and not Hyderabad as is being claimed.
