Fact Check: This tractor march has nothing to do with ongoing wrestlers’ protest

The wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan over sexual harassment charges.

Amid this a photograph has gone viral of the Khap Panchayats taking part in the protest. A video of a large tractor rally has been shared on the social media with the claim that more people are joining the protests. It was claimed that farmer were on their way to the protest site. In the video the Tricolour can be seen attached to the tractors.

The video was shared by Deepak Khatri of the Congress. While he later went on to delete the video, the same had been shared several times.

OneIndia has learnt that the video that has been shared has nothing toScreenshot 2023-05-08 at 1.30.52 PM.png do with the wrestlers' protest. It was a rally that was taken out by the Kerala Youth Congress in support of the farmer protest in 2021.

We found this Facebook post from January 3 2021. According to the post, the video was from a Kisan March held by the Youth Congress workers from Kerala in support of the farmers' protest that took place in 2021. The farmers had been protesting against the farm laws which were introduced by the Union Government that year.

The tractor rally was organised in Palakkad in Kerala as per media reports. Many Congress leaders can be heard in the video seeking support for the farmers who were protesting in Delhi at that time.

Hence it is clear that the video of the tractor with the Tricolour approaching the site where the wresters are protesting is in fact old. They are from 2021 when the Congress party in Kerala organised a rally in support of the farmers who were protesting the farm laws in Delhi.
