Fact Check: Manipur BJP Leader And Son Involved In Women Parade Incident?

A picture of two men in RSS outfits has been circulating online alleging them of being involved in the the women parade incident in Manipur.

The viral image depicted two men wearing what appears to be RSS uniforms - black caps and white shirts, and brown knee-length trousers. It claimed that these individuals were among those accused in the Manipur incident. The incident occurred on May 4, but the clip of the incident went viral on July 20.

What added fuel to the speculation is Communist leader Subhashini Ali sharing the picture of them and claiming that they are the accused in the incident.

The former MP and CPI(M) leader wrote, "They are the Manipur accused. Recognise them by their clothes." However, it has been revealed that they have no links to the incident. It is because neither the cops or the accusers have provided credible evidence to substantiate their claims.

On the other hand, Chidananda Singh issued a statement written to the Manipur DGP, asking him to take action against those who are spreading fake news about him. He has listed out the handles and groups who have shared the posts linking him with the May 4 incident.

As netizens slammed Subhashini Ali for her fake tweet, she apologised for the tweet against the BJP leaders.

"I am extremely sorry that I retweeted a false tweet regarding 2 individuals who were being identified as the accused in the terrible Manipur case of extreme sexual violence against women. I apologize unconditionally for any embarrassment I caused quite unintentionally," she said on Twitter.
