Fact Check: Is Australian great, Adam Gilchrist the richest cricketer in the world?
Adam Gilchrist is one of the best wicket-keeper batsmen that one has seen. He was part of the Australian team which won three back-to-back World Cups.
It is a well-known fact that cricketers make a ton of money.
With this being said, a tweet has gone viral claiming that Australian great, Adam Gilchrist is the richest cricketer in the world. The list puts him above Sachin Tendulkar, M S Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Jack Kallis, Veerendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Steve Smith.

The list tweeted by a handle called World Index puts Gilchrist's worth at $380 million.
When OneIndia cross checked, we found that Gilchrist's name appears in the list due to F45. It must be noted that F45 is a chain of fitness centres around the world and the CEO of the company is one of the richest persons in Australia. The name of the CEO is Adam Gilchrist. However he is not the Australian cricketer.
Gilcrhist was in the news last year when he earned around $500 million overnight. He had floated his company on the New York Stock Exchange and this earned him rich dividends. When he was in his 40s, he opened a single gym in Sydney in the year 2013. This was just the begging of a super-successful venture.
Hence it is clear that the Adam Gilchrist that the list speaks about is not the Australian cricketer. It is in fact the CEO of F45, a fitness chain around the world. The net worth of the cricketer, Gilchrist is however not known.

The tweet has been re-tweeted over 700. Times and has got 10k likes. If one looks at the replies, a handle, India Business Gurus said, " just looked further into this. "The list is wrong. There is a different Adam Gilchrist who is the founder of F45 Fitness, a chain of fitness centres, who has that net worth, He is not the cricketer."
Another user tweeted a screenshot which said, " F45 fitness founder and CEO Adam Gilchrist has just become one of the wealthiest people in Australia after a staggering result from floating his company on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Gilchrist-not to be confused with the cricket player of the same name-made $500 million overnight."
