Fact Check: Did M S Dhoni Touch Sachin Tendulkar’s Feet

M S Dhoni the captain of the Chennai Super Kings has been in the news a lot these days.

Now an image has gone viral which shows Dhoni touching the feet of cricketing legend, Sachi Tendulkar. It is being claimed that this happened on May 6 at the M A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai following a clash by the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings teams.

Those sharing the image praised Dhoni's upbringing and claimed that when the Mumbai Indian's mentor, Tendulkar came on to the field, the former Indian skipper went ahead and touched his feet.

"Let me tell you that both are billionaires. Such acts prove where humility and decency can take you no matter what. On the other hand, some such people get inflated with little position and money. There is only one life, it is up to us to decide how to live it," said one user while sharing the image.

It may be recalled that when singer, Arijit Singh touched Dhoni's feet during the opening ceremony of the IPL, it had made headlines all over. Now, had Dhoni touched Tendulkar's feet, it would have created the same buzz. However OneIndia has found that there was no such thing that had happened. Had it happened there would have been frenzy all across the media. We however could not find a single report on the same.

While reversing searching the image, we found a report in the Navbharat Times from April 28 2023. It featured a similar photograph of the two cricketers.

In the original image, Dhoni can be seen standing next to Tendulkar. The images looked similar, but Dhoni cannot be seen touching the feet of the legendary cricketer.

The official account of IPL too had tweeted the same phScreenshot 2023-05-11 at 10.04.42 AM.pngoto with the caption, "two Legends, One Frame." Out here too, Dhoni cannot be seen touching the feet of Tendulkar.

We also found that the image where Dhoni is seen touching Tendulkar's feet was digitally altered.

Hence it is safe to conclude that the viral image that shows M S Dhoni touching Sachin Tendulkar's feet has been digitally altered.
